The former Weymouth Naval Air Station Redevelopment Project in Weymouth, Rockland, and Abington had been issued a positive Certificate on its Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) from Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA). This project had planned land uses related to transit-oriented development with 2,855 residential units, 2M square feet (sf) of commercial/industrial, an 18- hole golf course and various active and passive recreational facilities under a prior developer.
HSH is working with LStar Communities to file a Notice of Project Change (NPC) with MEPA to modify the land-use program to include an additional 1,000 housing units, increase the commercial/industrial component to approximately 6M sf, and change on-site locations for various land-uses. In the NPC development, HSH is coordinating with stakeholders such as the three communities, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC), and the Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS).
