Roadway Design
HSH works with state agencies as well as municipalities throughout the Commonwealth to develop engineering plans for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, and transit improvements. These packages include traffic signal plans, pavement marking and signage plans, construction plans, utility plans, stormwater management and drainage plans, accessible ramp design, temporary traffic control, Right of Way (ROW) plans, and construction management plans. With each of our design projects, we develop cost estimates and provide specifications for construction.
At HSH, we take a Complete Streets approach to all our projects. When examining corridors that are proposed for reconstruction, we will strive to incorporate the municipality’s Complete Streets policy and goals into the design alternatives.
We understand that providing separated bicycle facilities may not be feasible or fit the needs of all neighborhoods. Through communicating with the municipality, advocates, and the community, we will determine a preferred alternative that takes into account the Complete Streets fundamentals, and improves functionality and safety, while maintaining the character of the city or town.
