Peer Reviews
HSH has completed engineering peer reviews for municipalities on development projects throughout Massachusetts. Our team provides objective, technically rigorous evaluations to help municipalities, agencies, and communities understand the impacts of proposed developments and make informed decisions during the review process.
We review site plans, data reports, calculations and traffic impact studies to ensure they meet industry standards, reflect appropriate study methodologies, and address local and regional concerns.
What We Evaluate
Our civil engineering peer reviews focus on key issues that affect project feasibility including local impacts:
- Project layout, including parking compliance, building location, amenities and emergency access;
- Project topography, including site stormwater analysis from pre- to post- development conditions per local and state requirements;
- Utility and infrastructure considerations, sewer and water capacity and/or subsurface disposal system design;
- Pedestrian connectivity and open spaces;
- Proposed project landscaping and lighting compliance; and
- Potential project conditions if approved.
Our transportation peer reviews focus on key issues that affect project feasibility and community mobility, including:
- Site access and circulation;
- Traffic operations and roadway capacity;
- Utility and infrastructure considerations;
- Pedestrian, bicycle, and transit accommodations;
- Consistency with local and regional transportation planning; and
- Compliance with accepted traffic impact study methodologies.
Civil Engineering Expertise
HSH provides independent site and civil engineering peer reviews to help municipalities and agencies evaluate proposed development projects with confidence. Our team reviews site design plans, drainage and stormwater management systems, grading, utilities, and infrastructure layouts to ensure they meet applicable regulations, engineering standards, and local requirements. With extensive experience in site development and infrastructure design, HSH offers practical, technically sound feedback that helps identify potential issues early in the review process while supporting efficient project review and informed decision-making for communities. Because we regularly prepare these studies ourselves, we bring valuable insight when evaluating the work of others—allowing us to provide clear, constructive, and technically sound peer reviews.
Experienced Transportation Professionals
HSH brings together a well-rounded team of civil, structural, and transportation engineering professionals with extensive technical expertise. Our team provides review of detailed traffic and parking studies, roadway and intersection reconstruction design, safety enhancement initiatives, traffic signalization and the development of signing and pavement marking plans. Our collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive review that balances sound engineering with practical solutions for municipalities and project teams.
