Little Leaf Farms

 The site, known as 105 Walker Road in Devens, MA began as a 14-acre, two-phase development in which a total of five (5) acres of greenhouse were designed, permitted, and constructed. The initial two phases constructed the first facility of its kind, envisioned to be a sustainable development for the production of leafy greens for the northeast. Quickly, Little Leaf Farms realized that five acres of greenhouse would not sustain the growth they were experiencing, and HSH was engaged to design Phase 3. Phase 3 combined additional undeveloped parcels for a new total of 26+ acres. 

HSH worked to prepare a site plan to meet all necessary permits for construction, but also meet all necessary greenhouse requirements for the facility to be constructed. For both halves of the project, HSH worked with specialized greenhouse designers to design and permit a rainwater harvesting system. Phases 1 and 2 required an industrial wastewater septic system for effluent from the greenhouse facility, along with a domestic septic system. Phase 3 combined all sewer outflows and connected to municipal sewer service. 

All phases of the project have been constructed and occupied, and HSH remains on-call for Little Leaf Farms to pursue any additional civil engineering and permitting items they may need as they continue to grow.
