Whitney Road Culvert Replacement
The project will replace the existing pipe culvert with a new, 66-inch by 51-inch corrugated metal pipe arch with cast-in-place concrete headwalls with an anticipated 100-year service life, which is in accordance with the Massachusetts Stream Crossing Standards at a location designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). HSH has completed all necessary environmental permitting for the project including Shirley Conservation Commission, Massachusetts Endangered Species Act (MESA), Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. HSH prepared permit applications, technical reports and permit plans. This includes all regulatory requirements for the permits noted above. HSH located the wetland replication site, determined the hydrological grading, and prepared the wetland replication, wetland restoration, streambed restoration, and bank restoration plans. HSH prepared project applications which include flood storage compensation, stormwater calculations and grading plans. HSH prepared project plans that include design of temporary and permanent erosion control measures including hay bales and silt fences, and other techniques as appropriate.
