HSH provided community engagement and graphic design services to assist the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA’s) System-Wide Accessibility (SWA) Department. The goal of the project was to further reduce disparities and foster inclusivity among population groups in the digital era and facilitate access to public transit services and community transportation information through improved outreach, communication, advertising, and products. HSH assisted the SWA Department in better serving older adults and individuals with disabilities by:
- Understanding the difference between how younger and older generations access and consume information – digital or traditional;
- Developing new messaging and teaching tools that are trusted and resonate with various age groups in demographically, ethnically, economically diverse neighborhoods of Boston; and
- Building upon existing messaging and teaching tools to help ensure they resonate with various age groups in diverse communities of Boston.
