Braintree-Weymouth Landing Streetscape, Braintree | Weymouth

MassWorks Grant Implementation
Towns of Braintree/Weymouth, Massachusetts

HSH was selected by the Towns of Braintree and Weymouth to implement streetscape and infrastructure improvements to restore the Landing area as a business-rich village center. The Towns were awarded a $2.4M Public Works Economic Development (PWED) grant (now known as MassWorks) from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to create a village center that stimulates economic development, sustains current businesses, and attracts enhanced amenities to the district.

HSH led the revitalization from preliminary to final design and through to construction oversight. HSH also developed the plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for the construction of all improvements. Enhancements included pavement rehabilitation, sidewalk widening, pedestrian crosswalks, bicycle accommodations, curb bump-outs, street lighting, streetscape improvements, water line installation, and utility pole removal. Acting as the Town’s representative during construction, HSH was on site throughout the construction period to ensure the project was delivered to specification. The streetscape and infrastructure improvements were completed in summer 2012.
