Ziomara Ayala-Mendoza | Marketing Proposal Leader

Ziomara is an experienced marketing leader with 10 years of experience working in marketing for the AEC industry. As a member of HSH’s Production Team, she plays a key role in providing HSH clients with high-quality products. Ziomara works closely with our graphic designers to finalize the graphic and illustrative sides of our client-facing reports and publications. She also assists in designing marketing and communication collateral for both print and online use, including resumes and project sheets. Ziomara is responsible for reviewing all text documents for Quality Control/Quality Assurance, as well as formatting basic layout design, managing the CRM Database, and finalizing all proposal documents. She graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.


Paul Berthiaume, P.E. | Manager of Structural Engineering

Paul has over 15 years of experience, which are primarily in bridge and culvert design, rehabilitation, rating and construction services administration. He has experience managing multi-discipline projects from concept level and preliminary design up through final design and construction. He has extensive experience with complete bridge replacements, superstructure replacements, deck replacements, truss rehabilitation, stone masonry structures, and concrete substructure rehabilitation, as well as scour repair projects. Paul’s recent experience includes preliminary design of the Westford Street Bridge over I-495 in Chelmsford which is a five-span structure on a 45-degree skew for MassDOT. Paul graduated from University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Madison Blanchard | Civil Designer

Madison is a Civil Designer with experience on a number of site development projects within the City of Boston and the Commonwealth. Her experience developing projects from conceptual design to construction documents includes grading, utility design, stormwater design, hydrologic analysis, wetland permitting, estimating, and construction specifications. Recently, Madison worked on the site design for the Allston LabWorks project, assisting with the permitting processes for Boston Water and Sewer Commission approval and City of Boston’s Public Improvement Commission. Madison graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Patrick Bogle, P.E. | Civil Engineer

Patrick is a Professional Civil Engineer licensed in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Patrick has both management and design experience on a number of site development projects throughout the state of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire working out of HSH’s Chelmsford Office. Working with Omni Properties, Patrick led Chelmsford’s largest project to date, the design and permitting process for 52 townhouses, 192 apartments, and 56 single family houses on a 56-acre lot. Patrick has valuable industry experience permitting large and small scale residential and commercial projects. Patrick graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Valerie Chia | Civil Designer

Valerie is a Civil Designer involved in a wide range of roadway design projects for municipalities, MassDOT, MBTA, and private clients. Her experience includes designing and estimating high-profile projects in the Greater Boston area such as Connect Historic Boston and New England’s first center-running bus lanes on Columbus Avenue. Her experience involves proposals, planning, public infrastructure design, MassDOT and City of Boston submittals, Complete Streets design, transit design, and ADA design. She has managed projects involving multimodal improvements from conceptual design to construction advertisement. Valerie graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Jocelyn Dewire, EIT | Civil Designer

Jocelyn has extensive experience with transportation improvement projects. She has an in-depth knowledge of the process needed to move a transportation improvement project from the preliminary design stage to advertisement for construction. She has managed projects involving sidewalk improvements, bridge replacement, Complete Streets, intersection improvements, and Safe Routes to School. Jocelyn was responsible for managing HSH’s effort to prioritize all failed and missing curb ramps, working with MassDOT’s curb ramp inventory. She has recently been managing the design of ADA-compliant curb ramps throughout MassDOT Districts 2 and 3. Jocelyn graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Jared Hite | Traffic Designer

Jared provides clients with accurate data, clear analysis of transportation issues, and practical alternatives to address them. He plays a key role on a variety of projects including traffic impact studies for all types of development projects; institutional master plans; parking, loading and bus accommodations; signal design; and other planning efforts. Jared was the lead traffic designer for implementing New England’s first center-running bus priority lanes on Columbus Avenue. Design consisted of new traffic signal control systems, improving existing signal infrastructure along the corridor, pavement marking and signage, and providing compliant pedestrian access to and from bus station platforms. Jared graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Chris Malsch, P.E. | Senior Civil Engineer

Chris has experience that spans a variety of fields, including Resident Engineering; highway design and traffic studies; drainage system design; project scheduling and cost estimating. For HSH’s Everett Northern Strand Community Trail Extension project, Chris is acting as the Resident Engineer on site. The project spans both City of Everett Right of Way as well as a portion of the Gateway Center, where the trail terminates at the junction with the existing Mystic River Trail. Chris has guided the project through the final stages of project development, project advertisement and award, and throughout construction, which is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2022. The completed project will provide a critical link for the community trail network in the area as well as for future expansion of the network to Assembly Square. In addition, Chris provides the lead work in the field by the Construction Services team in support of a variety of HSH designed projects. Chris graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Kathleen Martin | Project Manager

Kathleen is a Project Manager who prepares and manages a variety of Construction Management Plans and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for both public and private projects throughout the City of Boston and the Commonwealth. She oversees the design and construction of projects in the greater Boston area, her tasks include, construction oversight, field inspections, construction administration, contractor coordination, bid review, and more. Some of Kathleen’s notable projects include the redesign of Ocean Avenue in Revere, Parcel 12 Air Rights Project and The Midtown Hotel in Boston, and MGM Springfield. Kathleen graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Robert Messenger, P.E. | Senior Civil Engineer

Bob is a Senior Civil Engineer with over 10 years of experience in design and permitting land development projects within the City of Boston and throughout Massachusetts, including the Boston Market Terminal project in Everett, MA. His experience includes grading, hydrology, stormwater design, wetland permitting, estimating, and construction specifications. Bob graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.


Erin Reed | Manager of Public Involvement

Erin works closely with HSH’s engineering and planning groups to integrate public involvement into projects. During her time as Senior Statewide Coordinator for the MassDOT Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program, she served as team lead for equitable and sustainable outreach initiatives promoting localized SRTS programs in over 200 Massachusetts communities. She was recently named one of ACT’s “40 Under 40” for her six years as a leader in transportation demand management. Erin managed HSH’s public outreach efforts on the MBTA Green Line Extension (GLX) project in Somerville and Medford, and she is currently managing a variety of outreach efforts for MassDOT, the MBTA, and private developers. Erin helped the GLX team pivot to virtual meetings and engagement when the pandemic hit in March 2020. She is well-versed in all aspects of both in-person and virtual outreach. Erin graduated from University of Saint Joseph with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.


Melissa Restrepo | Transportation Permitting Project Manager

Melissa is a Transportation Permitting Project Manager with experience conducting traffic studies for private developments within the City of Boston and surrounding areas. She is well-versed in traffic modeling and operations analysis, transit analysis, pedestrian and bicycle assessments, and loading areas design. She also assists institutions and municipalities with master plans, traffic impact studies, and parking studies. Melissa’s recent projects include 55 South Main Street in Cohasset, 10 Converse Place in Winchester, and 40 Soldiers Field Place in Boston. Melissa graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
