Are You Taking Advantage of the Small Bridge Program?

August 02, 2022

HSH Knows How to Help You Get It and Spend It!

The Small Bridge Program provides financial support to cities and towns for small bridge replacement, preservation, and rehabilitation.

New in 2022, the program utilizes a two-phased grants system in order to separately fund the design and construction of bridge projects.

Phase 1 grant is designated for the costs of bridge design and permitting (up to $100,000).

Phase 2 grant provides funding for the costs of construction (up to $500,000).

Applications are accepted once per year for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 grants. The municipality may submit applications for multiple small bridges for either grant phase during a single application round.

To apply for a Phase 2 construction grant, a municipality must demonstrate a final design completed (Phase 1).

Our Structural Engineering group has experience developing contract documents for retaining walls as well as foundations for overhead sign foundations. Walls can range from short landscape walls with minimal embedment to taller walls which require frost protection and borings. Learn more about our Structural Engineering services.
