Kelley Square Intersection Improvements
Massachusetts Department of Transportation
The Kelley Square Intersection Improvement Project reconstructed this proverbially difficult and dangerous intersection as a modified roundabout. Other major components included the creation of a second, smaller roundabout at the intersection of Millbury Street and Arwick Avenue and the permanent reversal of Harding and Millbury Streets. During the construction phase, HSH performed outreach to a diverse and heavily interested community in English, Spanish, Polish, and Twi – the language spoken in Ghana. Major community engagement tools included public presentations, a project newsletter, weekly progress emails, and a dedicated project hotline available in English, Spanish, and Polish. The project also included direct flyer drops in the project area to highlight upcoming public meetings and major traffic changes.
