BUS RAPID TRANSIT PUBLIC OUTREACH: FIRST AND SECOND AVENUES AND NOSTRAND AVENUE
New York City Department of Transportation

As part of a citywide effort to improve service and bus speeds along major bus corridors, the New York City Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit are collaborating to implement bus rapid transit (known as Select Bus Service) improvements throughout the City. SBS will not only improve the speed and reliability of bus service, but will improve the overall operation of New York City Streets, including more efficient traffic flow and curb usage, enhanced bicycle access, and greater pedestrian safety. HSH is leading the public outreach efforts for these improvements on First/Second Avenues and 34th Street in Manhattan, Nostrand/Rogers Avenues in Brooklyn, and Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island. In this capacity, HSH is organizing and facilitating Community Advisory Committee meetings, public meetings, and community forums; producing and disseminating project materials, such as newsletters, fact sheets, and meeting notices; and maintaining project mailing lists.
