For the last ten years, HSH has been working in North Carolina on a number of important transportation projects and planning efforts. We have led the public outreach effort for the Mid-Currituck Bridge EIS, a project that will significantly improve access to and from the Outer Banks and assist in emergency evacuations. Near Charlotte, we are leading the outreach for a Design-Build project along I-85. The project will widen 3.8 miles of highway and reconstruct the I-85 interchange at Belmont Road. Check out www.i-85yadkinriver2.com. For more information, contact Ryan Walsh (rwalsh@hshassoc.com).
For the North Carolina DOT, HSH continues to work on a public involvement toolkit to help link public outreach responsibilities and techniques to key aspects of the Department's planning, environmental review, and design activities. Finally, for the City of Charlotte, we are about to begin an effort to identify appropriate outreach strategies and techniques for interacting with the public on various types of municipal projects.
